Services Summary Description
Metadata
  • Provide assistance in the development of metadata and tools used to extract and store metadata from existing data repositories
  • Provide metadata into online searchable registries to support data discovery and in some instances, allow access to the data and utilities for downloads
Mapping
  • Map data sourcing, harmonisation and compilation;
  • Creation of data sets for download;
  • Sourcing data to create custom map graphical presentations
Data Management
  • Compiling, updating existing map data for project initiatives;
  • Creating databases of geographically referenced descriptive information;
  • Storing map and related data to meet tasks required and maintaining currency of the data with the data owners.
Analysis
  • Providing spatial data analysis services through modelling map based data,
  • Providing satellite imagery analysis services;
  • Identifying trends and patterns in multiple spatial and attribute data sources;
  • Creating models to identify areas of potential hazards or threats supporting early warning, assessments, post-disaster recovery and post-conflict situations for decision making and policy choices
Assessment
  • Providing full services from the determination of appropriate indicators, computation of the indicators and sourcing data required to meet the requirements of the computations
Environmental Alerts
  • Alert services notifying others when changes are detected in a data item and/or indicator
Methodologies
  • Development of models, practices and procedures which can be used by the Clearinghouse Mechanism
  • Creation of best practice manuals, technologies, tutorials and publications to enable improvements in data collection
Learning Tools
  • Capture best practices for use in training
Presentation
  • Creation of screen based user interfaces to improve access to and usability of spatial and related data
  • Preparing maps, graphics and charts as well as multi-media presentations to assist in communicating environmental information e.g. trends, predictions from models;
  • Use of satellite imagery and aerial photography with other forms of spatial data to improve appreciation of the geographic context
Applications Development
  • Software specification and systems integration activities to support application development

  • Hosting services for data and information which are accessible over the internet
